Google Cloud Collaborates with Polygon’s Proof-of-Stake (PoS) Network for Enhanced Blockchain Security

In a significant development, Google Cloud has joined Polygon’s Proof-of-Stake (PoS) network as one of its decentralized validators. Google Cloud’s involvement as a validator on the Polygon PoS network boosts the platform’s collective security, governance, and decentralization. Being one of the 100+ validators, Google Cloud will actively participate in the network’s governance role, operate nodes, and stake MATIC tokens. By aligning with Polygon, Google Cloud aims to utilize its infrastructure, known for powering popular platforms like Gmail and YouTube, to enhance user confidence in the Ethereum layer 2 protocol.

This collaboration with Polygon is part of Google’s broader plans for the blockchain ecosystem. Earlier this year, Google announced its cloud services support for Polygon’s zkEVM scaling solution, which facilitates the deployment of nodes and offers node engines. Additionally, Google Cloud extended a $200,000 funding credit for Polygon-backed startups. These strategic partnerships highlight Google’s commitment to accelerating the adoption of core Polygon protocols by providing enterprise infrastructure and tools.

Polygon is not the sole beneficiary of Google’s foray into distributed ledger technology (DLT). Google Cloud has also established partnerships with other prominent blockchain platforms such as Tezos, Solana, and Ronin Network. Furthermore, the company announced the expansion of its blockchain services on BigQuery, adding 11 new networks to the existing list, including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Ethereum Classic. This expansion ensures developers have faster access to public data across multiple chains, facilitating the development of decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts.

Google Cloud’s dedication to providing a comprehensive view of the crypto landscape stems from the feedback received from blockchain foundations, Web3 analytics firms, partners, developers, and customers.
